Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CiteScan service operated by CiteReady ("we," "us," or "our") at citescan.ai and related domains. By using CiteScan you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The Service

CiteScan analyzes publicly accessible websites and produces a Digital Relevance Index (DRI) — a composite score across three pillars: Visibility (SEO), Credibility (AEO), and Technical (GEO). Results reflect the state of the scanned page at the time of the scan and are generated in part using AI language models.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use CiteScan. By using the service you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use CiteScan only for lawful purposes and only to analyze websites you own, operate, or have authorization to audit. You may not:

  • Scan websites without authorization from the site owner
  • Use automated scripts or bots to trigger scans at scale without written permission
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or reproduce the underlying scoring model
  • Use scan results to make false or misleading claims about a competitor's website
  • Interfere with or circumvent the rate limiting, authentication, or security controls of the service
  • Resell or sublicense API access without a written agreement

4. Free Tier

CiteScan offers a free, no-registration scan. Free scans are subject to rate limits and may return cached results for recently scanned URLs. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue free tier access at any time without notice.

5. Accounts

If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@citescan.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.

6. AI-Generated Content

Scan results, gap analyses, recommendations, and summary narratives are generated in part by AI language models (including Anthropic Claude). These outputs:

  • Are informational only and not professional SEO, legal, or marketing advice
  • May contain errors, hallucinations, or outdated information
  • Reflect the state of the scanned page at the time of the scan, not its historical or future performance

You are solely responsible for any decisions you make based on scan results.

7. Intellectual Property

Our IP. The CiteScan platform, scoring methodology, interface, and branding are owned by CiteReady and protected by intellectual property law. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for your own purposes.

Your content. You retain ownership of the websites you submit for scanning. By submitting a URL you represent that you have the right to have that URL analyzed.

Scan results. You may use scan results for your own internal business purposes. You may not publicly redistribute raw API responses or claim the scoring methodology as your own work.

8. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using CiteScan you agree to that policy.

9. Third-Party Services

CiteScan uses third-party services including Anthropic (AI inference), Supabase (authentication and data), Railway (infrastructure), and Vercel (hosting). Your use of CiteScan is subject to the terms of these providers where applicable. We are not responsible for the actions or omissions of these third parties.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CITEREADY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, BUSINESS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM OR (B) $100 USD.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CiteReady and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Sections 7–14 survive termination.

14. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction. You waive any right to a jury trial or class action.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will post the revised Terms with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
